Elementor, Gutenberg or a custom theme?
Almost every WordPress problem I am called in to fix traces back to this choice being made badly at the start. Here is how I decide.
Elementor
Right when your team needs to build and restyle pages without a developer. Fast to launch and easy to hand over. The trade-off is heavier markup, so it needs disciplined optimisation to keep Core Web Vitals green — which is exactly what most Elementor builds skip.
Gutenberg blocks
Right for content-heavy sites where speed matters more than drag-and-drop freedom. Native to WordPress, no plugin dependency, dramatically lighter pages. My default for blogs, news sites and service businesses that publish regularly.
Custom theme
Right when the design is bespoke and performance is non-negotiable. Hand-coded PHP templates with only the CSS and JavaScript your site actually uses. Highest build cost, lowest running cost, best scores.
Hybrid
What I most often recommend: a custom-coded theme with Advanced Custom Fields for structured content, plus Elementor enabled only on marketing landing pages your team edits. Speed where it counts, flexibility where you need it.
WordPress pricing in Dubai — and what's included
A freelance WordPress site in Dubai starts at AED 999 for a one-page build and runs to around AED 4,999 for a 10-page business site with SEO. What moves the price is predictable: the number of unique page layouts, custom Elementor vs bespoke theme work, bilingual Arabic/English content, and any integrations such as bookings, a CRM or e-commerce. You get a fixed quote after a free 15-minute discovery call — never open-ended hourly billing.
How your WordPress build runs
Week one is discovery and design: we align on goals, then I design the homepage and key templates in Figma for your sign-off. The build follows on clean, SEO-ready WordPress — custom theme or Elementor, schema, caching and image optimisation for strong Core Web Vitals. You get weekly demo links, and after launch I hand over full access plus 14–30 days of free support. A starter site is typically live in 5–7 days.
Proven with UAE brands
I've built and maintained WordPress sites for UAE names like TGI Fridays ME (multi-location restaurant), Tamani Marina (hotel and serviced apartments) and Concinnus (luxury lifestyle) — real, live, verifiable projects, not template demos. That range means I've handled everything from menu and booking systems to cinematic brand design on WordPress.
If your project is really a store rather than a content site, hiring a WooCommerce developer in Dubai may be the better fit — tell me what you're building and I'll recommend the right path before you commit.
Why Dubai WordPress sites are slow — and how I fix them
Around a third of my WordPress work is speed rescue. The causes repeat, and none of them are solved by installing another caching plugin on top of the last one.
- Plugin bloat. Thirty-plus plugins each loading CSS and JavaScript on every page. I audit what is actually used, remove the rest, and dequeue assets on pages that do not need them.
- Unoptimised images. 4MB hero photographs straight from a camera. Converted to WebP, correctly sized, lazy-loaded below the fold.
- Hosting located in the wrong place. A server in Iowa serving customers in Deira. Either move the origin closer or put a CDN edge in front so first-byte time drops from hundreds of milliseconds to tens.
- Render-blocking resources. Fonts and scripts loaded in the head with no preloading strategy, delaying Largest Contentful Paint.
- No object or page caching. Database queries re-run on every request instead of being served from cache.
The outcome I aim for is green Core Web Vitals on mobile — not just a desktop PageSpeed score that looks good in a report. Mobile is how the majority of UAE traffic arrives.
Security, backups and maintenance
WordPress powers a large share of the web, which makes it a standing target. Most hacked sites I clean up were compromised through an abandoned plugin or a weak admin password, not anything exotic.
Hardening at build time
Login URL changed, file editing disabled, XML-RPC restricted, strong password policy, two-factor authentication for admins, and correct file permissions. Applied before launch, not after an incident.
Backups you can actually restore
Automated off-server backups of files and database, with a restore actually tested once. A backup nobody has ever restored is a hope, not a plan.
Malware cleanup and recovery
If you are already infected I remove the payload, close the entry point, clean injected spam content, and submit a reconsideration request if Google has flagged the site. Usually turned around within 48 hours.
Ongoing care plans
Monthly core, theme and plugin updates applied on staging first, uptime monitoring, security scanning and a bucket of small edits. Optional, cancellable, and priced per site after we see what your setup needs.
Inherited a WordPress site you cannot work with?
This is one of the most common calls I get in Dubai: the developer stopped replying, nobody has the admin login, the hosting is in someone else’s name, and the site has not been updated in two years.
I handle these regularly. Recovering access to hosting and domains, migrating away from a host you cannot reach, untangling a page builder nobody documented, updating a site that is five major versions behind without breaking it, and putting the credentials back in your name. If the existing build is genuinely beyond saving I will tell you that rather than bill you to keep patching it.
Why Dubai businesses hire me
I live in Al Karama, Dubai — so I understand the local market, can meet in person across Dubai, and work in your timezone. I have shipped sites for UAE brands like Lewis James, TGI Fridays ME, Seedra, Concinnus and Tamani Marina.
Pricing is transparent and starts at AED 999 for a one-page site. Every larger project gets a fixed custom quote after a free 15-minute discovery call — no hidden change-request fees.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a freelance WordPress developer cost in Dubai?
A one-page WordPress site starts at AED 999 and a five to ten page business website runs AED 3,000 to 8,000. A custom-coded theme costs more than an Elementor build because it is written from scratch. WooCommerce stores start around AED 2,499. Every project is fixed-price and quoted in writing within 24 hours of a free scoping call.
Should I use Elementor or a custom WordPress theme?
Elementor if your team needs to edit page layouts without a developer. A custom theme if performance and a bespoke design matter more. In practice I most often build a custom theme with Advanced Custom Fields and enable Elementor only on marketing landing pages, so you get speed and flexibility together.
How long does a WordPress website take to build?
Five to seven working days for a starter site, ten to fourteen days for a multi-page business site, and two to three weeks for WooCommerce. Rush delivery is available if you have a launch date.
My WordPress site is very slow. Can you fix it?
Yes, and it is a large part of my work. The usual culprits are plugin bloat, unoptimised images, poorly located hosting and render-blocking scripts. I audit first, give you a fixed quote for the fixes that will actually move Core Web Vitals, and target green scores on mobile rather than a flattering desktop number.
My WordPress site was hacked. Can you clean it?
Yes. I remove the malware, close the entry point, clean injected spam pages, harden the installation and submit a reconsideration request if Google has flagged you. Most cleanups are completed within 48 hours.
I have lost access to my WordPress site or hosting. Can you help?
This is common when a previous developer stops responding. I can usually recover access through the domain registrar and host, migrate the site to hosting in your name, and hand all credentials back to you.
Do you offer ongoing WordPress maintenance?
Yes. Monthly care plans cover core, theme and plugin updates tested on staging first, off-server backups, uptime monitoring, security scanning and a set allowance of small edits. Optional and cancellable at any time.
Can you build a WooCommerce store on WordPress?
Yes — including UAE payment gateways such as Telr, PayTabs and Network International, 5% VAT-compliant invoicing, Tabby and Tamara instalments, and Arabic RTL layouts. See WooCommerce development in Dubai.
Will my WordPress site rank on Google?
Every build ships with clean heading structure, schema markup, fast load times, an XML sitemap and Search Console connected. That is the technical foundation. Competing for hard Dubai keywords also needs ongoing content and links, which I offer separately as SEO work.
Can you make my WordPress site bilingual in English and Arabic?
Yes. Genuine right-to-left Arabic layouts with correct typography, a proper language switcher and hreflang markup, rather than a machine-translation plugin bolted onto a left-to-right theme.
Do I own the site, hosting and domain?
Always. Hosting and domain are registered in your name, you get every credential at handover, and the code is yours. I do not resell hosting at a markup or hold accounts hostage.
Can you redesign my existing WordPress site without losing rankings?
Yes. Redesigns are done on staging with a full URL map, 301 redirects for any changed paths, and existing metadata and content structure preserved. Rankings are monitored in Search Console for the first month after launch.
